學校簡介

西南科技大學（Southwest University of Science and Technology）簡稱“西南科大”，坐落于中國科技城-四川省綿陽市，由教育部、國家國防科技工業(yè)局和四川省人民政府共建，是國家西部重點建設十四所高校之一，是四川省全面創(chuàng)新改革試驗定點聯(lián)系高校之一，入選國家“中西部高?；A能力建設工程”、四川省“雙一流”建設計劃、教育部卓越工程師教育培養(yǎng)計劃、“雙萬計劃”、國家級大學生創(chuàng)新創(chuàng)業(yè)訓練計劃、國家級新工科研究與實踐項目、四川省卓越法律人才教育培養(yǎng)計劃、四川省卓越農(nóng)林人才教育培養(yǎng)計劃、四川2011計劃。
2000年8月23日，在深化高等教育體制改革、西部大開發(fā)和中國（綿陽）科技城建設的大背景下，教育部批準西南工學院與綿陽經(jīng)濟技術高等?？茖W校合并組建成立西南科技大學。
截至2020年4月，學校校園占地4131畝，建筑面積117萬平方米，固定資產(chǎn)總值23億元，教學科研研儀器設備值7.16億元；在校研究生、本科生、外國留學生3.6萬余人；設有16個學院（部），80個本科專業(yè)；有博士后科研流動站1個、一級學科博士點4個、一級學科碩士點22個、獨立二級學科碩士點1個、碩士專業(yè)學位類別8個，有4個學科方向與中國工程物理研究院等開展聯(lián)合培養(yǎng)博士研究生；有四川省“雙一流”建設學科（群）2個、省級優(yōu)勢學科4個、省級重點學科11個，有國防科工局批準的國防基礎學科1個、國防特色學科方向5個；專任教師2000余人，其中，高級職稱人員935人，博士生、碩士生導師585人；聘任院士13人。
